Job summary

Apleona UK is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician to join our team in Galway City. This role is based on-site, Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4pm, 40 hours per week, supporting electrical, mechanical, and general building fabric maintenance.

You will carry out planned preventative maintenance using our CMMS/CAFM system, identify issues, perform fault-finding, and coordinate with service desk and external engineers as needed.

Qualifications

  • Electrical/Mechanical trades or engineering diploma is required.
  • Experience in utilities or facilities is preferred.
  • Formal training in a relevant discipline is advantageous.
  • Basic computer knowledge essential.
  • Proven track record in preventative and reactive maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical, electrical, and general building fabric maintenance.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance on equipment per CMMS/CAFM.
  • Identify and remedy equipment issues to maximise uptime.
  • Service electrical, mechanical, and non-technical equipment.
  • Coordinate with service desk and respond promptly to queries to ensure SLA conformance.
  • Fault finding and repairs; coordinate external engineers when needed.
  • Maintain records and assist in installation of new plant and equipment.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about equipment issues.
  • Assist with energy saving initiatives and cost reduction ideas.
  • React to out-of-hours callouts when applicable.

At Apleona, we are currently recruiting for a qualified Maintenance Technician to join our team based in Galway City.


Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (7:30am - 4pm), 40 hours per week


Main Duties and Responsibilities


  • To carry out a range of technical duties to cover mechanical, electrical, and general building fabric maintenance, consisting of some general operative tasks.

  • To carry out planned preventative maintenance on all equipment under our control as per the Plant CMMS / CAFM system

  • Proactively identify and remedy equipment maintenance issues, to maximise equipment uptime

  • Servicing of electrical, mechanical, and non-technical equipment

  • Liase with the service desk/supervisor and respond to all non-technical and technical queries promptly to ensure conformance with the relevant Service Level Agreement

  • To carry out fault finding and repairs to broken down equipment, contact and coordinate service engineers where external assistance is required

  • Maintain appropriate records in line with requirements

  • Assist in the installation of new plant and equipment

  • To keep all business unit leads informed and updated at all times in relation to equipment issues

  • Liaising with department engineers and other support personnel to identify and solve problems

  • Assist with the drive for 'Cost Reduction Initiatives' across the site, from providing ideas through to implementation. This should also include Energy Saving Opportunities (ESOs)

  • To be a self-performing Electrician and continuously strive for self-improvement

  • Ensure any training deemed necessary by your line manager is completed within the agreed timeframe

  • Must be willing to take on and familiarize with all relevant site systems as deemed necessary to complete the role

  • Maintain an internal ‘Best Practice’ regime and encourage continuous improvements

  • Assist with all queries regarding quotations and purchasing when requested

  • Maintain and maximize use of the client CMMS / CAFM (Computer Aided Facility Management) system and ensure all works are completed and closed within the agreed timeframe

  • Sourcing and stocking of spare parts as required to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained in accordance with client requirements

  • React to out of hours callouts where applicable.


Qualifications and Experience


  • Electrical/Mechanical Trades or Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline

  • Experience in the following areas - Utilities / Facilities

  • Formal training/certification in any of the above would be advantageous

  • Relevant experience required

  • Basic computer knowledge essential

  • Proven track record in Preventative and Reactive Maintenance in a similar environment.
