Job description

Location: Dublin - Grand Canal Dock (New Opening) Department: Maintenance Reports to: General Manager Contract: Full-time, permanent · Start date: November 2026 ·

About Latroupe

Latroupe brings together the best of hotel comfort and hostel culture. Behind every good night's sleep, hot shower and buzzing common area there's a building that simply works, and that's where you come in.

We're opening our brand-new property in Dublin, located in Grand Canal Dock, one of the city's most vibrant waterfront neighbourhoods. With almost 500 beds, it will be one of our largest properties. We're looking for a Maintenance Supervisor to get the building ready for opening and keep it running smoothly from day one.

Your role

As Maintenance Supervisor, you'll be responsible for keeping the whole property safe, comfortable and fully operational, 24/7, from rooms and dorms to common areas, bar and back of house, supported by an on-call rota and specialist contractors.

As part of our opening team, you'll also help hand over the building from construction, set up maintenance processes, suppliers and systems.

You'll combine strong technical knowledge with a genuine understanding of hospitality: every bed out of order is a guest who can't stay with us, and every quick fix is part of a great stay.

What you'll be doing
  • Support the building handover before opening: snagging, testing and commissioning of installations with the contractor.
  • Manage the defects list and warranty claims with the main contractor during the first year of operation.
  • Collect and organise all technical documentation: as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties and certificates.
  • Set up and run the planned preventive maintenance programme and the system to log and track repairs.
  • Oversee HVAC, hot water, plumbing, electrical systems, lifts, electronic locks and kitchen/bar equipment.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns and guest requests, prioritising anything that affects guests or sellable beds.
  • Keep rooms, dorms, bathrooms and common areas in top condition: furniture, bunk beds, lockers, paintwork.
  • Ensure compliance with fire safety, Legionella control and all statutory inspections (lifts, gas, electrical).
  • Apply health and safety standards for contractors: risk assessments, permits to work, PPE.
  • Manage external contractors and service providers, including SLAs, quality checks and invoices.
  • Prepare and control the maintenance budget and propose investment needs.
  • Manage spare parts and technical stock.
  • Monitor energy and water consumption and drive savings initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B and Management.
What we're looking for
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, ideally within hotels, hostels, student accommodation or other 24/7 properties.
  • Hands-on, multi-skilled maintenance experience. A trade qualification (electrical, mechanical, HVAC or similar) is a strong plus.
  • Solid knowledge of fire safety systems, HVAC and hot water systems.
  • Experience managing contractors and maintenance budgets.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills: you stay calm when something breaks at 3am.
  • A guest-focused mindset and a genuine interest in hospitality.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and international environment.
  • Flexible availability, including on-call cover
  • Fluent English, spoken and written (maintenance logs and contractor reports).
  • Manual Handling certificate. Valid Safe Pass, or willing to obtain it before the start date.
  • Right to work in Ireland.
  • Pre-opening experience and knowledge of Irish health and safety regulations are a plus.
What you can expect

A role where you can have a real impact on both the business and the guest experience. As part of a new opening, you'll have the unique opportunity to set up our maintenance operation from the start. We want someone who can keep a large building running like clockwork, so our guests only notice how good their stay feels.
