Job summary

Maryborough Hotel in Cork is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead day-to-day maintenance, oversee preventative programmes and ensure all work complies with health and safety standards. You will manage contractors, monitor costs, and drive energy-saving initiatives while delivering high guest service in a busy 4-star hotel.

Successful candidates will have strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to coordinate with other departments and housekeeping to maintain exemplary

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day maintenance operations and ensure smooth running of the building and planned preventative maintenance
• Oversee maintenance contractors and tender processes including quotes for reactive works
• Ensure health & safety policies and procedures are followed for all hotel works
• Monitor and control costs in all maintenance areas, including energy-saving measures
• Carry out regular hotel inspections to identify maintenance requirements and document quality steps
• Respond to guest maintenance issues urgently in line with policies
• Oversee purchasing in maintenance per hotel policy

Job description

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing day to day maintenance operations and ensure the smooth running of the building and all planned preventative maintenance.
• Ensure that the maintenance and safety policies and procedures are adhered to and ensure all work carried out within the hotel is in accordance with the health & safety regulations.
• Responsible for managing all maintenance contractors and tenders including obtaining quotes for reactive works.
• Ensure all building maintenance related areas are well looked after.
• To strive for correct maintenance within all areas of the hotel
• To monitor and control costs in all areas including energy-saving
• Ensure all items from maintenance list are actioned in a timely manner
• Carry out regular hotel inspections to identify maintenance requirements
• To ensure appropriate quality steps are documented and adhered to at all times
• To ensure all guests maintenance issues are handled urgently in line with agreed procedure
• To monitor all purchasing in maintenance in line with the purchasing policy of the hotel

Job Requirements

• The preferred Maintenance Manager will have experience working in a customer facing environment, ideally have experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment but not essential.
• The Maintenance Manager will have strong knowledge of maintenance, housekeeping, facilities and Health & Safety standards.
• Must have previous experience of maintenance management.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

• Flexibility and adaptability with good organisational skills

Desired But Not Essential

• Trainer qualification
• Health & Safety qualification (First Aid, Manual Handling Instruction, Risk Assessor etc.)
• 2-3 years experience in a 4-star Hotel
• Additional trade skills
