Job summary

Maryborough Hotel is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead day-to-day maintenance operations, ensuring the smooth running of the building and adherence to health and safety regulations. The role involves managing contractors, monitoring costs, and ensuring timely responses to guest maintenance issues.

Ideal candidates will have experience in a customer-facing environment, preferably in hospitality, with strong knowledge of facilities, safety standards and maintenance management.

Qualifications

• Eye for detail and ability to effectively deal with guests, other departments and housekeeping staff.
• Flexibility and adaptability with good organisational skills.
• 2-3 years experience in a 4-star Hotel (desirable, non-essential).

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day maintenance operations and oversee planned preventive maintenance.
• Ensure maintenance and safety policies are followed and hotel work complies with health and safety regulations.
• Manage maintenance contractors and tenders, including obtaining quotes for reactive works.
• Conduct regular hotel inspections to identify maintenance needs and ensure timely actions.
• Monitor costs in maintenance, including energy-saving initiatives, and ensure purchasing aligns with policy.
• Ensure guests' maintenance issues are handled urgently per agreed procedures.
• Maintain documentation of quality steps and ensure all maintenance areas are well looked after.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Maintenance Manager’s job will involve the following

• Responsible for managing day to day maintenance operations and ensure the smooth running of the building and all planned preventative maintenance.
• Ensure that the maintenance and safety policies and procedures are adhered to and ensure all work carried out within the hotel is in accordance with the health & safety regulations.
• Responsible for managing all maintenance contractors and tenders including obtaining quotes for reactive works.
• Ensure all building maintenance related areas are well looked after.
• To strive for correct maintenance within all areas of the hotel
• To monitor and control costs in all areas including energy-saving
• Ensure all items from maintenance list are actioned in a timely manner
• Carry out regular hotel inspections to identify maintenance requirements
• To ensure appropriate quality steps are documented and adhered to at all times
• To ensure all guests maintenance issues are handled urgently in line with agreed procedure
• To monitor all purchasing in maintenance in line with the purchasing policy of the hotel

Job Requirements

• The preferred Maintenance Manager will have experience working in a customer facing environment, ideally have experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment but not essential.
• The Maintenance Manager will have strong knowledge of maintenance, housekeeping, facilities and Health & Safety standards.
• Must have previous experience of maintenance management.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

Desired But Not Essential

• Trainer qualification
• Health & Safety qualification (First Aid, Manual Handling Instruction, Risk Assessor etc.)
• 2-3 years experience in a 4-star Hotel
• Additional trade skills
