Job summary

Radisson Blu Hotel, Cork is seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to join our team. The role involves general maintenance, repairs and upkeep across the busy hotel, with supervision of external contractors and coordination with hotel staff.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on maintenance or handyman experience, good problem-solving skills, reliability and the ability to work both independently and with a team. Experience in a hotel or similar environment is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance or handyman experience essential.
• Trades experience desirable.
• Hotel or similar environment experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and upkeep throughout the hotel
• To supervise plumbers, electricians and other outside contractors to ensure that work is completed to a satisfactory standard and place of work is returned to order
• Assist with preventative maintenance and routine inspections
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests
• Maintain guest bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house facilities
• Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general repairs
• Source suppliers, negotiate prices renegotiate annual contracts for all hotel and kitchen equipment, including all health and safety items
• Liaise with accounts to ensure all purchases are in line with budget, ensuring that a purchase order is done and approved for all purchases.
• Work closely with the hotel team to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for guests and staff
• Follow all health, safety and hotel procedures

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Assistant to join our team at a busy 4-star hotel. This is a full-time position, working 5 days a week including Saturdays, and would suit someone who takes pride in their work, has a practical approach, and enjoys keeping a hotel operating to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and upkeep throughout the hotel
• To supervise plumbers, electricians and other outside contractors to ensure that work is completed to a satisfactory standard and place of work is returned to order
• Assist with preventative maintenance and routine inspections
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests
• Maintain guest bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house facilities
• Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general repairs
• Source suppliers, negotiate prices renegotiate annual contracts for all hotel and kitchen equipment, including all health and safety items (Fire Extinguishers, alarm, deliberator etc)
• Liaise with accounts to ensure all purchases are in line with budget, ensuring that a purchase order is done and approved for all purchases.
• Work closely with the hotel team to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for guests and staff
• Follow all health, safety and hotel procedures

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous maintenance or handyman experience is essential. Trades experience is desirable
• Good practical and problem-solving skills
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Good attention to detail
• Flexible and willing to work Saturdays
• Experience in a hotel or similar environment would be an advantage
