Job summary

Crosscare, the social care agency of the Dublin Diocese, seeks a Maintenance General Operative to maintain and improve buildings across Dublin. Based at multi-site locations, you will perform maintenance tasks, minor improvements and ensure health and safety standards are followed.

The role requires a semi-skilled candidate with experience in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing or plastering; a full driving license is desirable. You will join a team focused on service, care and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge and understanding of the wide range of technical requirements involved in building maintenance and development: carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, plastering.
• Relevant experience in a similar role.
• Previous Health & Safety exposure (desirable).
• Full Clean Driving License (desirable).
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Removing building materials & rubbish from site area
• Filling the skip
• Loading and unloading materials
• Carrying building materials
• Knocking down walls
• Removing doors and partitions
• Cleaning site area
• Cleaning and maintaining equipment
• To undertake day-to-day maintenance tasks and minor improvement works as required by the Maintenance Team Leader such as carpentry, plumbing, tiling, ground works, changing lamps and cleaning etc.
• To operate appropriate equipment in a safe manner
• To maintain equipment as required
• In conjunction with the Administration and Facilities Manager to ensure that staff are aware of and implement current Health & Safety policy and procedures.
• To promote an ethos of best practice, professionalism, accountability and ongoing learning within the project
