Job summary

Ward & Burke is seeking an experiencedM&E Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial aspects of projects from tender through final account in the West/Southwest Ireland region. You will prepare estimates, budgets and tender documents, evaluate subcontractor quotes, value on-site works, monitor costs and cash flow, and handle variations to protect commercial outcomes.

• This role requires 2-3 years experience in an M&E Quantity Surveying or similar commercial role.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail are essential.
• Experience managing project costs across water/utility projects is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying software is required.
• Holds a degree in M&E Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are expected.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary project team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets and tender documentation for Mechanical & Electrical works.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotations and assist with procurement of M&E packages.
• Measure and value works completed on site, preparing interim valuations and payment applications.
• Monitor project costs and produce regular cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections.
• Identify, price, and manage variations, claims and change orders.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, site teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
• Attend project meetings and provide commercial advice to the project delivery team.
• Support the preparation of project forecasts and assist in identifying opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
