Job summary

Ward And Burke Construction Limited is seeking a M&E Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of water and wastewater projects. Based in the West/Southwest Region of Ireland, you will drive cost control from tender through final account and ensure contractual compliance across the project lifecycle.

You will prepare cost estimates, monitor costs, value variations, and collaborate with project teams to achieve commercial objectives.

Qualifications

• At least 2–3 years experience in M&E quantity surveying or similar commercial role.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Experience managing project costs across water/utility projects.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying software.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost estimates, budgets and tender documentation for Mechanical & Electrical works.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotations and assist with procurement of M&E packages.
• Measure and value works completed on site, preparing interim valuations and payment applications.
• Monitor project costs and produce regular cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections.
• Identify, price, and manage variations, claims and change orders.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, site teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
• Attend project meetings and provide commercial advice to the project delivery team.
• Support the preparation of project forecasts and assist in identifying opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.

M&E Quantity Surveyor for Water and Wastewater projects.

This position is based out of the West/Southwest Region of Ireland.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of projects from tender stage through to final account, ensuring effective cost control and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

The day‑to‑day requirements are as follows:

The Candidate:

The preferred candidate shall:

• Hold a degree in M&E Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Engineering – or a related discipline.

• Be capable of working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
