Job summary

Tier 1 Civil Engineering & Water Contractor is seeking an experienced M&E Estimator to support tenders for water and wastewater projects across Ireland. Based in Charleville, Co Cork, you will prepare detailed estimates, take-offs and tender submissions for MEICA packages, liaising with engineering, procurement and project teams.

You will review drawings and specifications, obtain supplier Quotations, and identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining accurate estimating records.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ MEICA estimating experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical packages.
• Experience taking-off quantities from drawings and specs.

Job title: M&E Estimator – Water & Wastewater

Company: Tier 1 Civil Engineering & Water Contractor

Package: Up to €85,000 DOE + company van + 2% employer pension + package

The Company

This Tier 1 civil engineering contractor has a strong presence across Ireland’s water and wastewater sector, delivering treatment plants, pumping stations and major water infrastructure projects.

Based in Charleville, Co Cork, they are looking for an experienced M&E Estimator to strengthen their MEICA team and support tenders for water and wastewater projects across Ireland.

The Role: M&E Estimator

As M&E Estimator, you will prepare detailed estimates and tender submissions for mechanical and electrical packages across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

You will work closely with engineering, procurement, commercial and project teams, reviewing drawings and specifications, completing take-offs and obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations to build accurate and competitive tenders.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 5+ years’ experience in M&E or MEICA estimating, cost planning or a closely related commercial or engineering role.
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment required.
• Experience preparing estimates from engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Experience dealing directly with suppliers and subcontractors required.

Preferred Experience

• Water and wastewater infrastructure experience strongly preferred.
• Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline beneficial.
• Estimating software experience advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed M&E estimates, budgets and tender submissions for water and wastewater projects.
• Complete material and equipment take-offs from drawings and specifications.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and assess returned quotations.
• Compare technical and commercial proposals and support procurement decisions.
• Work with engineering and design teams to develop competitive tender solutions.
• Identify value engineering opportunities during the tender process.
• Review contract conditions and identify commercial risks.
• Participate in tender adjudications, pricing reviews and post-tender negotiations.
• Maintain accurate estimating and tender documentation.

About You

You will be an experienced M&E Estimator with strong commercial awareness and a practical understanding of mechanical and electrical packages.

The strongest fit will be someone from a water, wastewater or MEICA background who understands how to interrogate drawings and specifications, price equipment and subcontract packages, and work with suppliers to put together commercially competitive tenders.
