Job summary

KPMG Ireland is recruiting a Cost Manager to join the Cork team. You will support day-to-day M&E cost management, cost planning, procurement, and post-contract cost reporting on a variety of projects, with a focus on value engineering and client interface.

The role requires degree-level qualifications in a related field and strong reporting, numeracy, and teamwork skills. This is a permanent, hybrid position based in Cork with opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified – BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
• Understanding a variety of project types/sizes/sectors including Mission Critical, Healthcare, Education, Commercial, and Residential.
• Familiarity with RIAI and GCCC standard forms of contract.
• Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on procurement, cost, value and risk, especially relating to M&E elements.
• Highly motivated and ambitious with strong organisational and managerial skills.
• Pro-active attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
• Good reporting and communication skills.
• Excellent numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Cost Manager in managing day-to-day operations of M&E aspects on projects.
• Assist with feasibility studies and prepare procurement reports focusing on M&E systems.
• Estimate and cost plan for M&E works; produce and present the final M&E cost plan.
• Produce full quantities measurement for M&E components.
• Tender and procure M&E works, including pre-qualification management.
• Manage post-contract M&E cost variances and change control processes.
• Take responsibility for M&E cost checks and valuations on larger projects; ensure timely and accurate cost checking and valuation.
• Produce monthly post-contract M&E cost reports and present to client.
• Contribute to value engineering exercises for M&E systems.
• Negotiate and agree final accounts for M&E packages.
• Interfacing with clients and other consultants at all project stages with emphasis on M&E elements.
