Job summary

Protex AI is seeking a Systems Engineer, Linux focused, to own provisioning, access, security, and health of devices across the field. You will lead the remote access stack, edge OS lifecycle, and fleet-wide security tooling for enterprise deployments.

This hands-on role is 30% cloud and 70% edge, collaborating with Infrastructure, Edge Engineering, IT, and customer security teams at Fortune 500 clients. You will operate in a fast-growing infrastructure team delivering real-time AI-powered

Qualifications

• Strong Linux fundamentals including package management, init systems, networking, kernel/driver troubleshooting
• 3–8+ years of professional Linux experience in operations or security engineering
• 1 year minimum networking experience
• Excellent communication to explain technical concepts to varied audiences
• Experience operating a fleet of Linux devices in the field with remote management and observability
• Proficiency in Python for automation and small services
• Bash or similar scripting to automate fleet operations
• Security-minded approach including secrets management and least privilege

Responsibilities

• Own OS lifecycle, updates, upgrades, and kernel/driver compatibility across fleet
• Design provisioning from box to production, including zero-touch or low-touch imaging and device enrollment
• Deploy and operate security monitoring tools on remote devices and manage edge policy
• Maintain firewall, ports, and endpoint documentation for customers and security reviews
• Build and maintain remote network debugging tools for the fleet
