Job summary

Onion Search PTE. LTD. seeks a Senior Lighting Designer to lead full-cycle design across architectural, landscape and nightscape projects in Singapore. You will develop lighting concepts, renderings, photometric studies and construction drawings while coordinating with clients, architects and M&E consultants.

You will mentor junior designers, build a robust luminaire library and ensure design criteria standardisation. Strong English communication is required for international collaborations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Lighting Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, Electrical Engineering or related.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architectural and landscape lighting design.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, DIALux, Photoshop, SketchUp and other lighting software.
• Familiar with Singapore SS531, URA nightscape guidelines and EMA standards; English communication with foreign clients.

Job description

Our client is a new local start-up with their HQ based in Beijing. The ideal candidate is to be part of a catalyst in this monumental transformation period in Singapore Tourism Industry.

Our client is a world-leading provider of lighting and spectacular technology solutions, specialising in architectural lighting, cultural tourism and digital experience projects. The company integrates innovative lighting technology, multimedia and creative design to deliver immersive, visually engaging experiences for landmark developments, attractions and public spaces.

JOB DIMENSION (SCOPE)

• Independently conduct full-cycle lighting design for architectural, landscape and nightscape projects, covering conceptual design, renderings, photometric simulation, construction drawing development, luminaire selection and control strategy design, through to site technical briefings, commissioning and acceptance. Prepare complete lighting drawings, luminaire schedules and technical specifications.
• Liaise with clients, architects, main contractors and M&E consultants to coordinate multi-disciplinary interfaces. Control lighting effect, illuminance, glare, colour temperature and energy consumption, ensuring compliance with Singapore SS531, URA nightscape guidelines and EMA electrical regulations.
• Develop lighting concepts, renderings and technical documentation for tender bids, support commercial quotation and carry out value engineering to balance visual quality and budget.
• Support project completion and review lighting-related as-built drawings. Build up lighting technical library and luminaire database, mentor junior designers and standardise drawings and design criteria.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Lighting Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, Electrical Engineering or related disciplines
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in architectural and landscape lighting design. Experience in nightscape / outdoor lighting and Design & Build projects is preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, DIALux, Photoshop, SketchUp and other design & lighting simulation software. Able to independently complete full design proposals, construction drawings and technical documents.
• Familiar with Singapore SS531, URA nightscape guidelines and EMA electrical standards, with knowledge of overseas project design workflow. Competent in written and spoken English to liaise independently with foreign clients, consultants and main contractors.
• Strong aesthetic sense, capable of on-site technical clarification and design optimisation. Good cross-disciplinary coordination skills with meticulous and responsible working attitude.
