Job summary

HDI Global SE in Ireland seeks a Claims Adjuster to manage a varied portfolio of liability claims from first notification through to settlement in line with claims handling standards.

The role handles lead and follow claims, supports oversight of TPAs, reviews MI, and analyzes data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. This is a stakeholder-facing, data-driven position in a corporate environment.

Qualifications

• Liability claims handling experience at lead level.
• Experience reviewing and managing MI.
• Experience in Irish public, products, and employers liability.
• Experience with litigated and non-litigated claims.
• Experience of Courts, mediations, or arbitrations.
• Good general knowledge of insurance principles.
• Awareness of current regulation and market issues.
• Good working knowledge of coverage under general liability policies.
• Prior experience in first-party claims handling (property/engineering/construction) beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Undertake initial evaluation of cause of loss to determine coverage and information needs.
• Decide Company response to claims, interpret policy documentation, investigate, negotiate and settle claims.
• Assist in setting accurate claim reserves for exposure assessment.
• Liaise with clients, loss adjusters, solicitors, experts, brokers, MGAs and TPAs for service and investigation.
• Review management information for accuracy and ensure MI reflects claims data.
• Coordinate with underwriters, risk managers, finance, and networks for procedural authority.

The role

We are looking for a Claims Adjuster to manage a varied portfolio of liability claims from first notification through to settlement, within their claims handling authority and in line with our claims handling standards.

The role will involve handling both lead and follow claims, including some technically complex matters. The successful candidate will also support the oversight of third-party administrators, review claims management information, and analyse data to identify trends, performance insights and opportunities for improvement.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys technical claims handling, stakeholder management and using data to support effective decision-making.

Key accountabilities

• To undertake an initial evaluation of cause of loss to determine whether a claim is covered and what further information may be required.
• To decide the Company's response to claims, based on correct interpretation of policy and underwriting documentation; investigating, negotiating and settling claims within statutory and company guidelines. This includes coverage analysis and policy determination.
• To assist in the process for setting accurate, realistic and timely claim reserves to enable management to assess the company exposure.
• To liaise variously with clients, loss adjusters, solicitors, experts, brokers, MGAs and TPAs as appropriate for claims service and investigation.
• To review MI for accuracy and liaise with TPAs, loss adjusters and other parties as required to ensure the MI accurately reflects the claims data.
• To liaise variously with underwriters & risk managers, finance, management, Home Office and with network (Servicing and/or Producing offices) as and when relevant for informational, procedural or authority reasons.
• To maintain accurate records for auditing and regulatory purposes, preparing reports as necessary.
• To ensure accurate entry of claims data into Company systems to enable precise reporting on the nature and financial impact of the claims portfolio and to assist in the preparation of MI.
• To proactively participate in projects or other initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness or efficiency of the team and/or department.
• To undertake any other tasks as requested by your Liability Claims Manager and the Head of Liability Claims in order that the team achieve its objectives.
• To assist in the management of international programs (Servicing and/or Producing office) by liaising with the network, clients, brokers, loss adjusters, solicitors and experts as appropriate to ensure an efficient claims service and the provision of correct and accurate claims data.

• Liability claims handling experience on a lead basis;
• Experience of reviewing and managing MI;
• Experience of the Irish Market in public liability, products liability, and employers liability matters;
• Experience of litigated and non-litigated claims;
• Experience of Courts / Mediations / Arbitrations;
• Good general knowledge and understanding of insurance principles;
• General awareness of current regulation and market issues;
• Good working knowledge of coverage provided under general public, products and employers liability policies;
• Understanding and good working knowledge of current and relevant law;
• Prior experience in handling first-party claims, such as property, engineering or construction claims, would be beneficial but is not essential.
