Project Manager
Overview
As a Project Manager, you will run the projects end to end and hold the delivery machinery that keeps them moving. Working inside a programme and reporting to its leads, you will take the coordination load off them: project plans, roadmaps, timelines, task hygiene, and a straight, evidenced answer on programme health at any point. This role requires strong project management experience, enough technical fluency to hold your own with engineering partners, and the judgement to tailor a methodology to how a client actually works rather than applying one wholesale.
Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and manage projects from initiation through to delivery, ensuring alignment with programme priorities and business goals.
- Own the roadmap for the project, coordinating with engineering and Business Technology partners on delivery rather than handing the roadmap to them.
- Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring and closure.
- Maintain project and task management systems so that status is accurate and current without needing to be reconstructed.
- Define, track and report on project benefits, and manage resource forecasting so projects are appropriately staffed and supported.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with engineering, product, legal, compliance, operations and vendor teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Facilitate clear communication and coordination across teams, supporting stakeholder engagement and alignment.
- Hold the boundary between the technical roadmap owned by engineering partners and the project roadmap owned by the programme.
- Mediate and resolve conflicts among stakeholders or project contributors to maintain momentum.
- Change Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead change initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, communication and training, to support adoption of new processes or systems.
- Drive process optimisation and continuous improvement across the project portfolio.
- Record decisions, dependencies and lessons learned in a form that travels — so that agreements reached in a meeting are durable and available to those who were not in the room.
- Support the development of junior team members and project contributors.
- Reporting, Compliance & Risk Management
- Communicate project status, risks and outcomes to leadership and senior stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making.
- Provide health reporting on a regular cadence, including RAG status, delivery confidence and escalation of items at risk.
- Proactively manage project risks, issues and dependencies, developing mitigation strategies as required.
- Ensure project activity complies with relevant standards.
Essential
- Project management certification at PMP or PRINCE2 level, with Agile certification.
- Strong working knowledge of different delivery methodologies (e.g. agile, waterfall), and the judgement to adapt rather than apply one rigidly.
- Bias toward driving delivery rather than producing artefacts, while keeping decisions and dependencies properly recorded.
- Technical background sufficient to engage credibly with engineering partners and to understand and optimise business processes.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to align projects with programme vision.
- Experience in resource management and project forecasting.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to lead change initiatives and support user adoption.
- Conflict resolution and mediation skills.
- Proficiency with project and task management tools and reporting dashboards.
- Experience coaching and mentoring team members.
