Job summary

MCS Group is urgently recruiting a Lead Python Engineer for a Dublin City Centre hybrid role. The position is a hands-on technical leadership role, guiding a small team while driving the design and delivery of scalable Python-based solutions in a fintech-focused environment.

The role involves leading backend architecture, API design, and cloud-based engineering practices within an Agile setting, with a 6-month initial contract and a day-rate of €500–€600 in Dublin.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience developing software with Python.
• Previous experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
• Experience designing and delivering scalable backend systems.
• Strong understanding of APIs, microservices and distributed architectures.
• Cloud experience (AWS).
• Experience working within fast-paced Agile environments.
• Banking, financial services or fintech sector experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of scalable Python-based applications.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers.
• Drive engineering best practices, code quality and technical standards.
• Work closely with Product, Architecture and wider technology teams.
• Contribute hands-on to design, development and code reviews.
• Support the evolution of a modern cloud-based engineering environment.
