Job summary

Cpl Group is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead the development, implementation and ongoing management of the company’s Health & Safety function across construction and retrofit projects in Ireland.

You will maintain the Health & Safety Management System, policies and risk controls, ensure compliance with Irish legislation and SEAI requirements, and drive a proactive safety culture with management, site teams and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 8+ in OHS/Safety Management or related
• 5+ years’ H&S experience in construction
• Experience building and implementing H&S management systems
• Strong knowledge of Irish H&S laws and construction safety
• Experience in risk assessments, audits and incident investigations
• Experience developing and monitoring H&S KPIs and continuous improvement
• Leadership, communication and influencing skills at all levels
• Strong organisational and documentation skills
• Proactive, practical H&S problem-solver
• Ability to work with management, site teams, contractors and stakeholders
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Fluent English (written and spoken)

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the H&S strategy and improvement programmes
• Develop, implement and maintain an effective H&S Management System across offices, sites and retrofit projects
• Embed H&S into day-to-day operations with management, project teams and site personnel
• Review and maintain Safety Statement, H&S policies and procedures
• Establish and manage risk assessment and risk management processes
• Provide expert H&S guidance to management, employees and contractors
• Conduct site inspections, audits and incident investigations with root-cause analysis
• Develop and monitor H&S KPIs and reporting to management
• Manage contractor H&S processes including pre-qualification and inductions
• Ensure H&S controls are integrated into project planning and delivery
• Develop SOPs and safe systems of work for construction activities
• Oversee safety-critical activities and emergency preparedness
• Promote a proactive H&S culture across the organisation
• Liaise with external bodies (HSA, SEAI, insurers, auditors)
• Maintain records of incidents, hazards and corrective actions
