Job summary

NeoDyne is seeking a Lead Automation Engineer in Cork to join the Integration & Digital Manufacturing team. You will lead projects across Energy, Life Science and Food & Beverage sectors, shaping control systems with Siemens, Rockwell and AVEVA technologies.

The role is full-time from our Cork office, offering a competitive salary and benefits. You will drive technical excellence, customer engagement and project delivery while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/CS/IS or related field.
  • 7–10 years automation engineering experience.
  • PLC programming with Siemens/Allen-Bradley/Schneider.
  • HMI/SCADA experience with Siemens/Rockwell/AVEVA/Schneider.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation and wiring.
  • Experience with control networks and communications (Profibus, Modbus, DeviceNet).

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of digital manufacturing/automation engineers delivering projects at customer sites.
  • Develop engineering design documents, technical evaluations, and test plans.
  • Design and code industrial PLC-based automation solutions.
  • Create I/O schedules and Functional Design specifications.
  • Design and configure HMI/SCADA interfaces for industrial control.
  • Oversee commissioning of control systems in the field.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality and safety.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support tender contributions.

Position Summary

NeoDyne are recruiting a Lead Automation Engineer to join our growing Integration & Digital Manufacturing team. Our Engineers work on leading-edge automation projects, predominantly in the Energy, Life Science and Food & Beverage sectors. A background in GAMP 5 and experience with Siemens, Rockwell and AVEVA (Wonderware) products would be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading a team of digital manufacturing/automation engineers delivering projects to customer sites.
  • Developing engineering design documents, technical evaluations, and test plans.
  • Design and coding of industrial process automation solutions on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Production of I/O schedules
  • Preparation of Functional Design specifications
  • Design and configuration of user interface systems for industrial control (HMI/SCADA)
  • Design of control panels and creation of panel wiring schematics
  • Oversee commissioning of control systems in the field: I/O and instrumentation testing, full testing and commissioning of automation systems
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, quality, and safety requirements
  • Fault finding of control systems (PLC, HMI/SCADA, Communication Networks etc.)
  • Providing design and approval for hardware, software, and controls for automated systems.
  • Working closely with customers to identify areas for improvement through the use of automation and data analytics technology.
  • Act as primary technical contact for clients and stakeholders, providing technical and automation operational support to Engineering, Manufacturing, Validation and Facilities departments.
  • Support proposal development and technical input for tenders
  • Monitor project performance and report on progress, identifying and mitigating project risks and issues
  • Lead and mentor graduate/ junior engineers.
Experience & Skills
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Computer Science / Information Systems or related field.
  • 7-10 years' automation engineering experience.
  • PLC Programming Experience: Siemens/ Allen-Bradley/ Schneider.
  • HMI / SCADA Experience: Siemens / Rockwell/ AVEVA / Schneider.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation and wiring.
  • Experience with control networks and communications systems (Profibus, Modbus, DeviceNet).
Desired
  • Experience working with validated Automation systems in the Pharmaceutical or Food Beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Full Irish Driving Licence
