Job summary

NeoDyne is seeking an Automation Engineer to support one of our key client sites on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work with the NeoDyne team to deliver automation expertise across the site and ensure compliant manufacturing operations.

The role will support automation across modernised and legacy manufacturing environments within regulated life sciences settings, contributing to planning, execution and ongoing support of automation projects including new product introductions

Qualifications

  • Honours degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience delivering automation projects in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of PLC-based control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, development, implementation, and maintenance of equipment control systems and industrial automation solutions.
  • Assist in evaluating system reliability and requirements for upgrades or lifecycle management.
  • Support automation project requirements in line with planning and maintenance strategies.
  • Coordinate assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to delivery of automation project milestones and schedules.
  • Analyze scope changes and potential schedule and cost impacts.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams regarding workflow and deliverables.
  • Adhere to site engineering standards, quality systems, and company values.

The company is 25 years old and employs over 200 talented automation, electrical and IT engineers across offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Waterford, and Chesterfield, UK.

NeoDyne is seeking an Automation Engineer to support one of our key client sites on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the NeoDyne team and play a critical role in delivering automation expertise across the site.

The Automation Engineer will support automation systems across modernised and legacy manufacturing environments within a regulated life sciences setting. The role will contribute to the planning, execution, and support of automation projects associated with new product introduction and ongoing manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of equipment control systems and industrial automation solutions.
  • Assist in evaluating system reliability and identifying requirements for upgrades, improvements, or lifecycle management activities.
  • Support the definition and compilation of automation project requirements in line with project planning and maintenance strategies.
  • Coordinate and participate in assessments to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the delivery of automation project milestones, ensuring tasks are completed in line with agreed schedules.
  • Support the analysis of scope changes, including preparation of information relating to potential schedule and cost impacts.
  • Communicate effectively with automation, engineering, and cross-functional teams regarding workflow, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Adhere to site engineering standards, quality systems, and company values in day-to-day activities.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience supporting or delivering automation projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of PLC-based control systems and industrial automation concepts.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems (FDA / ISO) within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high standard of work quality.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Desired / Nice to Have
  • Experience working within life sciences manufacturing (pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device).
  • Commissioning and validation experience within a regulated environment.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing systems and plant automation platforms.
  • Exposure to process engineering or manufacturing support roles.
  • Project-based experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
