Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Lead AI Security Engineer to drive security for foundation models and AI use cases. You will implement technical controls, run vulnerability testing, and ensure responsible-AI practices across the platform, partnering with governance teams and engineering peers to translate guidance into tested, secure deployments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on testing of ML/AI models for security vulnerabilities.
• Ability to build real technical controls (guardrails, filters, access rules).
• Experience with bias/fairness testing or mitigation for ML models.
• Familiarity with security risks of embeddings and foundation models.
• Experience with access control and audit logging in distributed/hybrid environments.
• Knowledge of PCI DSS and data protection regulations.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and production-grade tooling.
• Clear communicator across engineers and advisory teams.

Responsibilities

• Implement technical recommendations from central security and AI governance.
• Test models for security vulnerabilities and document results.
• Build and maintain guardrails, mitigations, and access controls.
• Perform bias and fairness testing for models and use cases.
• Provide concrete, reproducible test evidence for governance reviews.
• Stay current on model vulnerability research and attack techniques.
• Collaborate with security, privacy and governance teams as primary technical contact.
• Advise engineering peers on secure design choices before reviews.
• Support incident response for security or vulnerability findings.
