Job summary

Evergreen Care, a leading private nursing home operator in Ireland, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant/Domestic to join our catering team. The role involves planning, preparing and cooking meals under the Head Chef/Nurse Manager, focusing on nutritious, resident-centered dining.

Full training will be provided and a friendly, supportive work environment with flexible shifts, meals on shifts over 8 hours, and on-site parking. Relocation/commuting required.

Qualifications

Must have at least 1 year of experience working as a chef.
Full training will be provided.
Ability to plan, prepare and cook meals under supervision.
Commitment to hygiene and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare and cook meals as directed by Head Chef/Nurse Manager.
Promote nutritious meals and meet residents' expectations.
Ensure catering department meets regulatory obligations and internal standards.
Maintain a clean, hygienic kitchen and dining area.
Manage kitchen staff in a respectful manner.
Ensure excellent food presentation.
Keep well-stocked kitchen and manage resources efficiently.
Contribute to a home-like environment centering residents' needs.

Kitchen Assistant/Domestic

This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to further their career with one of Ireland's leading private nursing home operators.

The ideal candidate would preferably have 1 year's experience working as a cook, but it's not essential. Experience working in a similar role is desirable.

Full training will be provided.

About the role

Job Requirements:

To plan, prepare and cook meals as directed by the Head Chef/Nurse Manager in accordance with the needs and requirements of the residents.
To promote an environment that focuses on and manages the nutritional needs of the residents as well as providing food that delights residents and meets their expectations.
To ensure the catering department meets all the various regulatory obligations and our own standards and policies.
To maintain the catering department and all its associated areas, in a clean and hygienic manner and to ensure a tidy, warm, inviting and correctly set dining room.
To manage the kitchen staff in a reasonable and respectful manner to ensure that all the necessary tasks of the department are met in a timely and efficient way.
To ensure excellence in the presentation of food.
To ensure a well-stocked kitchen while being economic with resources.
To ensure that a ‘home-like’ environment and atmosphere is maintained where the resident is seen as the central figure in all decision making, ensuring that their right to individuality, privacy, dignity, independence and choice is maintained at all times.
To participate in announced/unannounced visits from the management team and HIQA Inspectors, HSA, environment health, fire authority.
