Job summary

Glenveagh Properties PLC is hiring a Junior Estimator for its Maynooth Head Office. You will analyse project plans, prepare detailed cost estimates, tender submissions and BoQs, and collaborate with architects, engineers and suppliers to collect essential cost data.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying or related field and 1+ years in estimating within construction or manufacturing. Proficiency with Causeway, Buildsoft, Cubit, CostX and Excel is essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 1+ years of relevant estimating experience in construction or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Proficient in estimating software (Causeway, Buildsoft, Cubit, CostX) and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse project plans, specifications and documents to prepare cost estimates.
  • Prepare tender submissions, BoQs and procurement schedules.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers for cost information.
  • Identify cost factors such as materials, labour and production time.
  • Monitor market trends in Ireland and Europe.
  • Collaborate with project managers and commercial teams during tender and post-tender phases.
  • Assess and manage risks; assist in value engineering and cost-control.
  • Maintain an estimating database and input to post-project reviews.
  • Prepare priced tenders and manage tender document inspections.

We are currently looking for a Junior Estimator for our Head Office in Maynooth.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Analyse project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Prepare tender submissions, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), and procurement schedules.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to gather essential cost information.
  • Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labour expenses.
  • Monitor market trends in materials, labour, and supply chain costs in Ireland and Europe.
  • Collaborate with project managers and commercial teams during the tender and post-tender phases.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with potential projects.
  • Assist in value engineering and cost-control exercises during project execution.
  • Maintain a database of cost information and assist in post-project reviews.
  • Provide input to the team in relation to project construction estimates/ cost plans
  • Prepare priced tenders with accuracy for return within deadlines
  • Undertake careful inspection of tender documents
  • Issuing enquiries and monitoring the enquiry process in line with deadlines
  • Update and manage estimating database on varying construction costs and material fluctuations
  • Pre and post tender meeting preparation
  • Report weekly and monthly data and information to site teams, key stakeholders and partners
  • Maintain a professional image for the company in all dealings with public and stakeholders
  • Other ad hoc duties that the Company may require from time to time
  • A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in estimating roles within the construction or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish construction standards, procurement processes, and building regulations.
  • Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Buildsoft, Cubit, CostX) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
