Job summary

H&F Electrical Contractors Ltd is seeking a Junior EHS Officer to join our growing team, supporting projects across Limerick, Cork and nationwide. You will help promote high environmental, health and safety standards while working with experienced EHS professionals, site managers and engineers.

Qualifications

• Qualification (or working towards) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction or related discipline.
• Interest in building a career in health, safety and environmental management.
• Awareness of relevant health and safety legislation (e.g., Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005).
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication with site and management teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site safety inspections and audits and track corrective actions to close-out.
• Support RAMS preparation, review and communication.
• Maintain accurate EHS records including training, inspections, permits and registers.
• Help deliver site inductions and toolbox talks and promote safe systems of work.
• Support investigation and reporting of accidents and near-misses.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and the Safety Statement.
• Support environmental management on site, including waste segregation and spill prevention.
• Assist with sub-contractor EHS documentation and certification reviews.

The Role

As a Junior EHS Officer, you will support the EHS team in promoting and maintaining high standards of environmental, health and safety performance across our sites and offices, helping to ensure that all works are carried out safely and in compliance with legislation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with site safety inspections and audits, and tracking corrective actions through to close-out.
• Supporting the preparation, review and communication of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
• Maintaining accurate EHS records, including training records, inspection reports, permits and statutory registers.
• Helping to deliver site inductions and toolbox talks, and promoting safe systems of work.
• Supporting the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents and near-misses.
• Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation and H&F Electrical's Safety Statement.
• Supporting environmental management on site, including waste segregation, spill prevention and sustainable working practices.
• Helping to monitor sub-contractor EHS compliance, including reviewing safety documentation and certification.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

• A qualification (or is working towards one) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• A genuine interest in building a career in construction health, safety and environmental management.
• An awareness of relevant health and safety legislation, ideally the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Construction Regulations.
• Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, with the confidence to engage with site and management teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• A full clean driving licence (Safe Pass certification an advantage, or a willingness to obtain).
