Job summary

H&F Electrical Contractors Ltd is seeking a Junior EHS Officer to support our teams across Ireland, including Limerick and Cork. You will assist with safety inspections, RAMS, and maintaining EHS records while contributing to a culture of high safety standards on Healthcare, Commercial, Industrial and Government projects.

The role offers hands-on training, career progression, and the opportunity to work with experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• A qualification (or working towards one) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, with confidence to engage with site and management teams.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with site safety inspections and audits, and tracking corrective actions through to close-out.
• Supporting RAMS preparation, review and communication.
• Maintaining accurate EHS records including training, inspections and permits.
• Helping deliver site inductions and toolbox talks, promoting safe systems of work.
• Supporting investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents and near-misses.
• Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation and the company's Safety Statement.
• Supporting environmental management on site, including waste segregation and sustainable practices.
• Reviewing safety documentation and certification for subcontractors.

The Role

As a Junior EHS Officer, you will support the EHS team in promoting and maintaining high standards of environmental, health and safety performance across our sites and offices, helping to ensure that all works are carried out safely and in compliance with legislation.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with site safety inspections and audits, and tracking corrective actions through to close-out.
• Supporting the preparation, review and communication of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
• Maintaining accurate EHS records, including training records, inspection reports, permits and statutory registers.
• Helping to deliver site inductions and toolbox talks, and promoting safe systems of work.
• Supporting the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents and near-misses.
• Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation and H&F Electrical's Safety Statement.
• Supporting environmental management on site, including waste segregation, spill prevention and sustainable working practices.
• Helping to monitor sub-contractor EHS compliance, including reviewing safety documentation and certification.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

• A qualification (or is working towards one) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• A genuine interest in building a career in construction health, safety and environmental management.
• An awareness of relevant health and safety legislation, ideally the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Construction Regulations.
• Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail.
• Good communication skills, with the confidence to engage with site and management teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• A full clean driving licence (Safe Pass certification an advantage, or a willingness to obtain).
