Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment’s client, a leading Irish building contractor, seeks a Junior EHS Advisor to join the South Dublin team and support ISO‑accredited safety systems across multiple construction sites.

You will work closely with the EHS Manager and site teams to deliver inductions, toolbox talks and risk controls, with a clear path to career development in EHS within a growing contractor environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health (NFQ Level 7).
  • At least 1 year of Health & Safety experience on residential or commercial construction sites.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety requirements and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel between multiple project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of the ISO-accredited Safety Management System on construction sites.
  • Review subcontractor safety documentation (Method Statements and Safe Plans of Action).
  • Conduct site inductions for employees, subcontractors and visitors.
  • Deliver weekly safety briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Participate in work planning and site coordination meetings.
  • Assist day-to-day site safety management and risk mitigation.
  • Monitor environmental risks and hazardous materials management.
  • Carry out site observations, inspections and safety audits.
  • Assist with Safety File preparation and information compilation.
  • Assist with incident and accident investigations.
  • Support EHS Manager and project teams with additional duties.

Are you a qualified Health & Safety professional looking to take the next step in your construction career?

Our client is a leading Irish building contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and sustainability.

Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an ambitious and motivated Junior EHS Advisor to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least one year of recent construction site experience who is looking to further develop their career with an established contractor and gain exposure to a variety of projects and site teams.

The role will involve working across multiple construction sites, with the successful candidate based from the company's South Dublin office.

About Your New Role

As a Junior EHS Advisor, you will work closely with the EHS Manager and project teams to support the implementation and maintenance of the company's ISO-accredited safety management systems across a range of construction projects.

This is a hands-on role where you will gain valuable experience working directly with site teams, subcontractors and project management professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of the company's ISO-accredited Safety Management System on construction sites.
  • Reviewing subcontractor safety documentation, including Method Statements and Safe Plans of Action.
  • Conducting site inductions for employees, subcontractors and visitors.
  • Delivering weekly safety briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Participating in work planning and site coordination meetings.
  • Supporting the day-to-day management of site safety and identifying potential hazards and risks.
  • Assisting site teams in implementing appropriate risk mitigation measures.
  • Monitoring environmental risks and the management of hazardous materials.
  • Carrying out regular site observations, inspections and safety audits.
  • Supporting the preparation and compilation of information for the Safety File.
  • Assisting with incident and accident investigations.
  • Supporting the EHS Manager and wider project teams with additional EHS responsibilities as required.
What We're Looking For

This opportunity would suit a motivated and ambitious Health & Safety professional who is keen to build a long-term career within the construction industry.

You will ideally have:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, minimum NFQ Level 7.
  • A minimum of one year of recent Health & Safety experience on a residential or commercial construction site.
  • A strong understanding of construction site safety requirements and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The confidence to engage with site teams, subcontractors and management.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach with a genuine commitment to promoting a positive safety culture.
  • A willingness to travel between multiple project sites as required.
