Job summary

O'Hehirs bakery and Cafe in Ballybofey, Co. Donegal, invites applications for a full-time Junior Deli Assistant. The role focuses on friendly, customer-focused service, beverage and food preparation, and working across a small team in a busy cafe.

Working hours are 30-40 hours per week across five days, with no evening shifts; staff meals and staff discounts are offered, and opportunities for training and career progression.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ experience as a deli assistant.
• Barista training or proven coffee/beverage preparation.
• Confident with cash handling and till operations.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving a range of teas, coffees, and beverages to customers.
• Serving signature sandwiches and promoting daily specials and offers.
• Preparing hot food dishes with focus on quality, presentation and service.
• Keeping the work area clean, organised and welcoming throughout the day.
• Operating the till and completing end-of-day cashing-up procedures.
• Working as part of the wider team, supporting bakery and wash-up areas during busy periods.
• Help welcome and train new team members, sharing knowledge and supporting their settle-in.

WE ARE HIRING A FULL TIME JUNIOR DELI ASSISTANT FOR OUR CAFE IN BALLYBOFEY, DONEGAL

The Role:

O'Hehirs is a well-established, family run business in food and bakery based in Sligo with a chain of shops spanning Sligo, Donegal, Mayo, Galway, Longford, and Westmeath and are expanding services and products offered all the time.

As a Junior Deli Assistant, you'll help create a friendly, customer-focused atmosphere where every visitor feels welcome. Working as part of a close-knit team, you'll provide excellent service while preparing and serving our fresh food with care and enthusiasm.

Full Time: Min 35 hours p.w

Working hours: 30-40 hours p.w - The café is open 6 days a week, you will be working across 5 days. Being able to work weekdays and weekends will be required. There are no evening shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and serve a range of teas, coffees, and other beverages to our customers
• Serving our signature sandwiches to a high standard and confidently promote daily specials and offers
• Preparing hot food dishes with a focus on quality, presentation, and excellent customer service
• Keeping your work area clean, organised, and welcoming throughout the day
• Operating the till and complete end-of-day cashing-up procedures
• Working as part of the wider team, supporting colleagues in the bakery and wash-up areas during busy periods when required
• Help welcome and train new team members, sharing your knowledge and supporting them as they settle into their role.

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience working as a Deli Assistant, with 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
• Confidence handling cash and operating a till accurately
• Barista training or experience preparing quality coffee and beverages.
