Job summary

O'Hehirs bakery and Cafe in Briarhill is seeking a Junior Deli Assistant for our busy cafe. The role involves preparing beverages, serving sandwiches, and assisting in hot food preparation with a strong emphasis on quality and customer care.

You will join a welcoming team with clear opportunities for training and career progression. The position is full-time with 35–40 hours per week across five days, no evening shifts, and requires a positive, can-do attitude.

Qualifications

• Experience in a deli or similar customer-facing role is advantageous.
• Friendly, approachable and customer-focused.
• Willingness to learn and grow in hospitality.
• Barista training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a range of teas, coffees and other beverages to customers.
• Serve signature sandwiches to a high standard and promote daily specials.
• Prepare hot food dishes with focus on quality and presentation.
• Keep the work area clean, organised and welcoming throughout the day.
• Operate the till and complete end-of-day cashing-up procedures.
• Work as part of the wider team and support bakery/wash-up areas when busy.
• Help welcome and train new team members and support them as they settle in.

FULL TIME DELI ASSISTANT REQUIRED AT OUR BRIARHILL CAFE!!

As a Junior Deli Assistant, you'll help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where every customer feels valued.

A supportive, friendly, and inclusive working environment where everyone is welcomed, valued, and encouraged to be themselves.

You'll deliver excellent customer service while preparing and serving our fresh food with care, enthusiasm, and attention to quality.

The Role:

Full Time: Min 35 – 40 hours p.w.

Working hours: Working 5 days across Mon to Sun. There are no evening shifts

We can be flexible in hours/days of work, this will be discussed if called for interview.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing and serving a range of teas, coffees, and other beverages to our customers
• Serving our signature sandwiches to a high standard and confidently promote daily specials and offers
• Preparing hot food dishes with a focus on quality, presentation, and excellent customer service
• Keeping your work area clean, organised, and welcoming throughout the day
• Operating the till and complete end-of-day cashing-up procedures
• Working as part of the wider team, supporting colleagues in the bakery and wash-up areas during busy periods when required
• Help welcome and train new team members, sharing your knowledge and supporting them as they settle into their role.

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience in a deli or similar customer-facing role is an advantage, but not essential. If you've worked in a similar role full-time for six months or more, we'd love to hear from you.
• A friendly, approachable personality with a genuine passion for providing excellent customer service.
• Someone who enjoys working as part of a team and brings a positive, enthusiastic attitude to work every day.
• An interest in developing a career in hospitality and a willingness to learn and grow.
• Barista training or experience preparing quality coffees and other hot beverages is an advantage.
