Cavan Crystal Hotel is seeking a Kitchen Assistant/Commis Chef to join our team in County Cavan. The role involves helping prepare ingredients, following recipes, cooking under supervision, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate has prior kitchen experience or a suitable qualification, a good command of English, and flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Competitive hourly wage and benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a kitchen assistant/commis chef and/or suitable qualification.
• Knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
• Be eager to learn and have initiative.
• Flexibility in working hours including mornings/evenings & weekends, public holidays.
• Good command of the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, peeling, and marinating.
• Follow recipes and guidelines provided by senior chefs for accurate and consistent food preparation.
• Assist in cooking dishes under the guidance of more experienced chefs.
• Operate kitchen equipment and machinery following safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing dishes and surfaces.
• Assist in monitoring and managing kitchen inventory, including stock rotation and restocking supplies.
• Report shortages or discrepancies to senior chefs.
• Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines to maintain consistency.
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods, including preparation and plating of dishes.
• Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service.
