Tata Consultancy Services in Ireland is hiring a Python AI/ML developer on a fixed-term 6-month contract to build and test Generative AI solutions for a UK higher education client. You will work with senior engineers in an Agile team, expanding cloud, data and software skills.

The role emphasizes hands-on development in Python, ML and prompt engineering, with exposure to Azure and LLМ-based app development.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of hands-on Python development experience.
• Strong foundations in ML and Generative AI; prompt engineering.

The Role

Develop, test and support Python-based AI, Machine Learning and Generative AI components for a leading UK higher education organisation. Working with senior engineers, you will contribute to practical AI solutions while strengthening your skills in cloud, data and modern software engineering.

• Develop practical AI and Generative AI solutions that support digital services in higher education.
• Grow your expertise in Python, Machine Learning, prompt engineering and cloud-based development.
• Work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative Agile delivery environment.

Your responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python-based AI and Machine Learning components under senior guidance.
• Support data cleansing, preparation, feature engineering and validation of approved datasets.
• Build and test Machine Learning models, prompts, AI workflows and API integrations from defined requirements.
• Execute unit tests, document results, resolve assigned defects and apply coding standards and review feedback.
• Support deployments, monitoring and routine production activities while maintaining clear technical documentation.

Your Profile:

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

• 3-6 years of relevant development experience with hands-on Python skills.
• Sound understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals and working knowledge of Generative AI and prompt engineering.
• Basic experience with Scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch and data preprocessing techniques.
• Understanding of REST APIs, Git, version control, unit testing and debugging.
• Good analytical, communication and teamwork skills, with experience working in Agile delivery teams.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure or another cloud platform and exposure to LLM-based application development.
