Job summary

Qualifications

• Familiarity with HL7 v2 and/or FHIR concepts (ADT, DocumentReference).
• Some exposure to ObjectScript or Python.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve interoperability monitoring and alerting.
• Configure, maintain, troubleshoot integrations using HealthConnect.
• Ensure reliable data exchange between MEDITECH Expanse, clinical systems, APIs, and downstream consumers.
• Investigate interface failures, identify root causes, implement fixes.
• Develop Python-based automation and PoCs, promote to production when ready.
• Produce runbooks and technical docs for handover.
• Apply controls for sensitive data, access, auditability, testing, change management.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to resolve incidents.

About The Role

The Integration & Automation Engineer helps build, operate, and improve the integrations and automation connecting MPN’s clinical systems.

Working across InterSystems HealthConnect, MEDITECH Expanse, healthcare interoperability standards, and Python-based automation, you will contribute to reliable data exchange between clinical systems and downstream services. You will also help improve monitoring, documentation, testing, and operational support across the interoperability estate.

This role is suited to someone with experience in clinical systems or application support who wants to develop into a hands‑on integration and automation engineer. You will receive structured mentoring and increasing engineering responsibility as your skills develop. Any existing support responsibilities will be transitioned through an agreed, time-bound handover plan.

What You Will Do

• Support and improve monitoring and alerting across the interoperability estate, working closely with the interoperability team.
• Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and progressively develop integrations using InterSystems HealthConnect.
• Support reliable data exchange between MEDITECH Expanse, clinical systems, APIs, and downstream consumers.
• Investigate interface failures and data-flow issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable fixes.
• Develop Python-based automation solutions and proofs of concept, progressing suitable work into supported production services.
• Produce runbooks, technical documentation, and support procedures that enable effective operational handover.
• Apply appropriate controls when working with sensitive clinical data, including access control, auditability, testing, and change management.
• Develop strong engineering practices through version control, peer review, automated testing, observability, and structured delivery.
• Work with internal teams and external vendors to resolve incidents and technical support cases.

Essential Experience

• Hands-on experience supporting, configuring, or integrating MEDITECH Expanse or a comparable electronic health record system.
• Practical experience working with InterSystems HealthConnect or a similar healthcare integration engine.
• An understanding of healthcare interoperability and how clinical data moves between systems.
• Familiarity with HL7 v2 and/or FHIR concepts, such as ADT messaging or DocumentReference resources.
• Some exposure to ObjectScript, Python, or another relevant programming or scripting language.
• Experience diagnosing technical issues and working with software vendors through formal support cases.
• A clinical systems, application support, interoperability, or related technical background.
