Job summary

Ability West in Galway City is seeking an Instructor to work with School Leavers providing Day Service support. Based in Salthill, you will deliver instruction in arts, crafts, social skills, and independent living skills as part of a supportive team.

You will help people we support achieve independence, with driving license required, and there are training and pension benefits. Salary scales €30,928 to €49,222 per year, 30 hours per week; closing date 18 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with challenging behaviours.
• Experience with autism spectrum individuals.
• Knowledge of varied communication needs.
• Familiarity with Day Services Interim Standards.
• Ability to instruct across Day Centre programmes.
• Full current driving license.

Responsibilities

• Instruct across arts, crafts, social skills, woodwork, cookery, horticulture, and independent living skills.
• Deliver courses emphasizing skill development and social integration.
• Collaborate with team to deliver flexible duties and ensure respectful relationships.
