Job summary

Collins McNicholas Recruitment & HR Services Group is seeking an experienced Technical Consultant to join our client's Service Delivery team in Ireland. This infrastructure-focused role supports on-premises and cloud environments, providing second-line support and hands-on administration of VMware, backups, storage and network services.

You will troubleshoot complex issues, own incidents to resolution, document configurations, and contribute to service improvements.

Qualifications

3-5+ years in infrastructure support, systems administration, or technical consulting.
Hands-on IT infrastructure experience, especially VMware and backup/restore environments.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across multiple domains.
Experience handling incidents and requests beyond first-line support.
Understanding of server, storage, virtualization and backup infrastructure.
Ability to own issues from investigation to resolution.
Strong customer communication and stakeholder management.
Comfort with ITSM processes and service standards.
Excellent documentation, organization and time management.
Relevant certifications (VMware VCP, Microsoft, HPE, Aruba, Fortinet or ITIL) advantageous.

Responsibilities

Provide second-line technical support for incidents, service requests and escalations.
Troubleshoot infrastructure issues across virtualisation, servers, storage, networking and cloud.
Perform VMware VM administration and health checks.
Carry out backup and restore operations and investigate failures.
Maintain infrastructure administration, monitoring and proactive maintenance.
Contribute to continual service improvement and knowledge sharing.
Support upgrades, migrations, and project deployments.
Maintain accurate technical documentation and ticket records.
Provide remote and onsite technical support as required.
Collaborate with analysts, vendors and customers to resolve complex issues.
Mentor less experienced team members.
