Job summary

SureCandidate Recruitment INTL Limited is seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer in Limerick to support a hybrid IT environment across project sites and central systems.

You will manage on-site hardware and cloud resources, including Azure VMs, storage, and networking, while ensuring security and performance across distributed locations. Travel to project sites in Ireland is required, with a full Irish driving license and eligibility to work in Ireland.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience with Microsoft Azure (VMs, networking, storage).
• Experience in hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud connectivity).
• Solid networking knowledge (routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs).
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and connectivity issues.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain on-site IT infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.
• Set up and manage site IT environments, including connectivity, wireless networks, and end-user equipment.
• Support commissioning of IT infrastructure for new project sites.
• Deploy and manage Azure resources (Virtual Machines, networking, storage).
• Support and troubleshoot hybrid environments connecting on-premise infrastructure to Azure.
• Manage and maintain Azure VPN connectivity for secure remote access.
• Monitor and optimise performance of cloud infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues across multiple locations and ensure resilient, secure connectivity between project sites and central systems.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and infrastructure issues.
• Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of IT systems.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security across environments.
• Implement and maintain security best practices across infrastructure.
• Collaborate with internal security teams to meet compliance requirements.
• Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation for systems and solutions.
• Work closely with internal IT teams, project managers, and site personnel.
• Provide hands-on support and guidance to end users when required.
• Engage with vendors and support providers to resolve issues efficiently.

We are assisting our Limerick based client a growing multinational company to identify an experience IT engineer to join their team as a IT Infrastructure Engineer, supporting a hybrid IT environment across project sites and central systems.

This role is part of a team responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure. You will work across a mix of physical infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, and network connectivity to support business operations across geographically distributed locations.

• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and connectivity issues.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with Azure networking (VPN / ExpressRoute).
• Exposure to automation or scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Azure tools).
• Understanding of infrastructure security best practices.
