Job summary

GemPool Recruitment seeks an experienced Project Engineer to join an industrial automation team in Dublin. You will deliver automation projects from design through testing, commissioning and validation.

Responsibilities include designing PLC/DCS/SCADA/MES systems, developing docs, supporting panel design, FAT/SAT, and site start-up. Travel across Ireland and Europe is required; Level 8 degree in a related field is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
• Level 8 degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
• Strong PLC/DCS programming and SCADA experience.
• Experience with commissioning, FAT and SAT.
• Knowledge of validation and regulated environments.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Ignition, or FactoryTalk is desirable.
• Willingness and ability to travel across Ireland and Europe.
• Eligible to work in Ireland and Europe without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC, DCS, SCADA, MES, and historian systems.
• Develop technical and project documentation.
• Support electrical control panel design and testing.
• Conduct FAT, SAT, commissioning, and site start-up activities.
• Troubleshoot automation and control systems.
• Work closely with project managers, customers, and engineering teams.
• Ensure projects meet quality, safety, and industry standards.
