Job summary

Elevate Partners seeks a Senior Regulatory Solicitor for its in-house team in Ireland. You will provide strategic, commercially focused advice on a broad range of regulatory, competition and compliance matters, reporting to the Regulatory Legal Manager.

You will work with senior stakeholders, regulators, business units and external advisers to shape risk, policy and transactional outcomes across a national footprint.

Qualifications

• A qualified solicitor or barrister admitted to practice in Ireland.
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience.
• In-house within a regulated industry preferred, or experience at a leading law firm or at the Bar.
• Experience advising on regulated industries, competition law, State aid or related areas.
• Excellent legal writing with strong drafting and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise on complex regulatory, competition and compliance matters.
• Provide guidance on competition law, State aid, licensing obligations and statutory interpretation.
• Advise on public and administrative law, critical infrastructure requirements and market regulation.
• Support acquisitions, joint ventures and other transactions including merger control and FDI.
• Advise on contentious regulatory issues, including pre-litigation and disputes.
• Manage licence obligations, business separation and ring-fencing considerations.
• Draft and review regulatory submissions, policy responses and contractual documentation.
• Coordinate with external solicitors, counsel and specialists.

Our client is a large, established organisation operating across a complex and highly regulated environment. The business has a significant national footprint and plays an important role in supporting long-term economic, infrastructure and sustainability objectives.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Regulatory Solicitor to join a small, high-performing in-house legal team. Reporting to the Regulatory Legal Manager, you will provide strategic, commercially focused advice on a broad range of regulatory, competition and compliance matters.

The Role

You will work closely with senior stakeholders, business units, specialist legal colleagues, regulators and external advisers. The role will involve advising on significant developments, transactions and issues affecting the organisation’s operations and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Advising on complex regulatory, compliance and contractual matters.
• Providing guidance on competition law, State aid, licensing obligations and statutory interpretation.
• Advising on public and administrative law, critical infrastructure requirements and market-related regulation.
• Supporting acquisitions, joint ventures and other transactions, including merger control, foreign direct investment and sector-specific regulatory matters.
• Advising on contentious and potentially contentious regulatory issues, including pre-litigation and dispute-stage matters.
• Supporting compliance with licence obligations, business separation and ring-fencing requirements.
• Drafting and reviewing regulatory submissions, policy responses, investigation correspondence and contractual documentation.
• Managing relationships with external solicitors, counsel and specialist advisers.
• Monitoring legal, regulatory and market developments and communicating their implications to the wider business.
• Providing clear, practical and commercially minded advice to senior internal stakeholders.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be:

• A qualified solicitor or barrister admitted to practice in Ireland.
• An experienced legal professional with at least 10 years’ relevant experience.
• Ideally, experienced in-house within a regulated industry, or with a leading law firm or at the Bar.
• Experienced in advising on regulated industries, competition law, State aid or related areas.
• Commercially astute, with the ability to provide strategic advice in complex and evolving circumstances.
• An excellent legal writer with strong drafting and analytical skills.
• Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and working across multidisciplinary teams.
• Highly organised, with strong project and case management capabilities.
• A confident communicator with excellent interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
