Job summary

Global Professional Consultants in Dublin seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design for data centres and mission-critical projects. You will drive cooling strategies and oversee detailed design, providing technical direction to deliver resilient, energy-efficient facilities.

Ideal candidates have Chartered Engineer status, extensive experience with high-density data centres, and strong BIM/CDM knowledge. Hybrid working and generous leave are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent accreditation.
• Extensive mechanical design experience for data centres or mission-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of cooling/heat rejection, redundancy, equipment selection.
• Experience with AI/HPC cooling in high-density data centres.
• Ability to lead design teams and provide engineering assurance.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery of major data centre projects.
• Provide technical direction across cooling, ventilation and systems.
• Drive innovative cooling strategies and ensure design integrity.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver energy-efficient solutions.
• Oversee detailed design and engineering assurance.
