Job summary

ABB Ireland is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to work on global client projects in a hybrid role. You will develop technical solutions, perform power system studies, and contribute to grid connection and renewable integration projects.

You will collaborate with clients, mentor junior engineers, and deliver clear reports and presentations. The role offers a dynamic environment within a leading electrical consultancy and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in power system studies and complex electrical infrastructure projects.
• 2+ years in power systems engineering.
• Advanced knowledge of SKM, EasyPower, ETAP.
• Protection design and coordination studies exposure.
• Electrical calculations and designs per IEC standards.
• Knowledge of power quality and renewable energy integration is a plus.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong English communication.

Responsibilities

• Providing technical input and leadership on complex projects.
• Working with clients to translate requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Ensuring outputs meet client expectations, quality standards, timeframes, and budget requirements.
• Conducting in-depth power systems analysis using industry-leading methodologies and software tools.
• Preparing detailed technical and non-technical reports, presenting clear recommendations and actionable insights.
• Attending client meetings remotely, building trusted relationships and managing expectations.
• Tracking and reporting on project performance and client satisfaction.
• Mentoring, coaching and developing more junior engineers. Online training to be delivered where applicable.
