Job summary

H&MV Engineering in Cork is seeking a recent graduate to join our 2-Year Graduate Development Programme as a Graduate Electrical Engineer. The role offers rotations across Design, BIM, Commissioning and Maintenance to build a broad HV engineering foundation.

You will gain hands-on experience, structured training, and mentoring, with encouragement to join Engineers Ireland and progress toward Chartered Engineer status.

Qualifications

• Recent graduate or final year student in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel or work on-site during rotations.
• Proactive, self-motivated with ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Design of high-voltage (HV) electrical layouts and system architecture.
• HV protection and control system design principles.
• Reviewing and developing schematic drawings and single line diagrams (SLDs).
• Supporting HV system studies (protection coordination, arc flash analysis, load flow, voltage regulation, fault level analysis).
• Pre-commissioning and commissioning support of AIS, GIS and HIS substations.
• Gaining exposure to live client and project meetings, representing H&MV as a graduate engineer.
• Understanding project safety requirements and working with H&MV’s safety-first culture.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including BIM, Procurement, Project Management, and Site Supervision.
