Lead Health and Safety Across a Complex Manufacturing Operation

Linkedskills is recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Manager for a senior leadership position within an established FMCG manufacturing organisation in Dublin.

This high-impact appointment oversees health and safety strategy, operational compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement across a busy manufacturing environment.

You will lead a small specialist team and work closely with senior management, operational leaders, engineering, facilities and employees to strengthen safety performance and embed a genuinely proactive safety culture.

This is not a compliance-only position. The successful candidate must be visible across the operation, able to influence people at every level, and confident challenging unsafe practices when necessary.

The role is predominantly site-based, particularly during the initial months.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s health and safety strategy.
• Promote a proactive and accountable safety culture across the operation.
• Manage and develop two direct reports across health and safety and facilities.
• Provide expert health and safety advice to senior management and operational teams.
• Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation and company standards.

• Ensure risk assessments, safe operating procedures, and control measures remain effective and up to date.
• Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses.
• Identify root causes and ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed.
• Monitor health and safety performance, trends and key performance indicators.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for the senior leadership team.
• Support operational, engineering and facilities projects from a health and safety perspective.
• Monitor contractor safety and compliance across the site.
• Support emergency preparedness and business-continuity arrangements.
• Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing, warehousing, engineering and facilities activities.
• Engage employees and managers through training, communication and safety-awareness initiatives.
• Significant Health & Safety management experience within FMCG, manufacturing, food and beverage, industrial production or a similarly regulated operational environment.
• Relevant third-level qualification in occupational health and safety or a related discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation.
• Proven experience developing and implementing health and safety strategies.
• Experience leading, coaching or developing health and safety professionals.
• Strong knowledge of risk assessment, incident investigation and corrective-action management.
• Experience working with operational, engineering, maintenance and facilities teams.
• Ability to influence senior leaders, managers and frontline employees.
• Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
• Confidence operating in a visible, predominantly site-based leadership position.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a credible and commercially aware Health & Safety leader who can balance legal compliance with the practical realities of a fast-moving manufacturing environment.

You will be able to set strategy while staying close to day-to-day operations. You must be comfortable making decisions, challenging established practices and holding people accountable for safety performance.

This position will not suit someone seeking a primarily remote or administrative role.
