Job summary

DFDS in Clonmel is seeking an experienced HGV Driver to deliver and collect goods across Ireland, maintaining high safety and service standards. You will manage documentation, respect drivers’ hours and ensure secure loads while representing the company professionally at every customer interaction.

You will hold a full HGV Class 1 licence with a valid Tacho Card and CPC qualification, plus strong English communication and customer service skills to support efficient operations and exceptional

Responsibilities

• Safely delivering and collecting chilled, ambient, and produce goods.
• Complete delivery documentation accurately and sign where required.
• Comply with road transport legislation and company policies.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Record all activities in line with legal and company requirements.
• Work in line with Drivers’ Hours regulations and Working Time Directive.
• Ensure loads are secured and transported per procedures.
• Provide professional, courteous service to customers.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and presentation.

About The Role

As an HGV Driver, you'll play a key role in ensuring goods are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time across Ireland. Operating from our Clonmel site, you'll be responsible for carrying out deliveries and collections while representing DFDS with professionalism at every customer interaction. Working with our modern fleet, you'll help maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service, ensuring products reach their destination in excellent condition. You will be responsible for:

• Safely delivering and collecting chilled, ambient, and produce goods to and from customer locations.
• Ensuring all delivery documentation is completed accurately and signed where required.
• Complying with all road transport legislation and company policies.
• Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects promptly.
• Recording all activities in line with legal and company requirements.
• Working in accordance with Drivers’ Hours regulations and the Working Time Directive.
• Ensuring loads are secured safely and transported in line with company procedures.
• Providing a professional and courteous service to customers at all times.
• Maintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.

About You

You will hold a full HGV Class 1 licence and have a valid Tacho Card as well as a current CPC qualification. You will possess good English communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling you to complete documentation accurately and interact effectively with customers and colleagues. In addition, you will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and take pride in representing the business in a professional manner.
