Job summary

Access Healthcare is recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join a nursing home in Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo. You will support residents with daily living activities, promote dignity and independence, and work closely with the nursing team.

Qualifications

Location: Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo
Setting: Nursing Home
Position: Healthcare Assistant (HCA)
Shift Patterns:

• Day shifts: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM

• Day/evening shifts: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Pay Rate: Starting from €15 per hour, plus applicable premiums for qualifying shifts.

Important Requirement: A full driving licence and access to a car are essential for this opportunity due to the location of the facility.

About the Role

Access Healthcare is recruiting caring, reliable and dedicated Healthcare Assistants to work in a nursing home in Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo.

We are looking for HCAs who are passionate about providing high-quality, person-centred care and supporting residents with their daily needs. The successful candidates will help promote residents' dignity, independence, comfort and overall wellbeing while working as part of a supportive nursing team.

Due to the location of the nursing home, applicants must be able to drive and have access to their own transport.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care, dressing, washing and daily living activities.

• Support residents with mobility, nutrition and hydration.

• Promote dignity, privacy, independence and individual choice.

• Observe and report changes in residents' health or wellbeing.

• Follow individual care plans and maintain accurate documentation.

• Work collaboratively with nurses and the wider healthcare team.

• Follow infection prevention, safeguarding and health and safety procedures.

• Help maintain a safe, comfortable and respectful environment for residents.

Requirements

• Minimum QQI Level 5 qualification, including:

  • Care Skills

  • Care of the Older Person

  • At least one of the following: Care Support, Communications, or Safety and Health at Work.

• Previous experience in an Irish healthcare setting is essential.

• Full driving licence and access to a car are essential.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• A caring, patient and professional approach.

• Eligibility to work in Ireland.

• Availability for the advertised 12-hour shifts.
