Job summary

Ennis Road Care Facility is seeking Health Care Assistants to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis at Ennis Road, Meelick, Co. Clare. The role involves delivering person-centred care to residents and supporting nursing staff.

You will help residents with mobility, personal care, meals and activities, while maintaining dignity and high hygiene and safety standards. Experience and QQI Level 5 in Healthcare are preferred.

Qualifications

• FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare (or equivalent).
• Excellent communication skills with residents and team.
• Fluent level of English in writing and speaking.
• Ability to maintain a positive approach in a sometimes‑challenging environment.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the nursing staff and team in delivering quality person‑centered care to meet the needs of residents.
• Getting to know residents’ interests and needs to provide attention, support and companionship.
• Promoting the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible.
• Enabling and assisting residents to maintain personal appearance / hygiene needs whilst always maintaining their dignity.
• Enabling and assisting residents to eat/drink and achieve physical comfort.
• Participating, organising and carrying out social activities.
• Sustaining high level of communication between residents’ family and staff, developing good relationships.
• Assisting in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the home.
• Contributing to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the home.
• Care for each resident like they are your own family.
• Any other duties deemed necessary by the Nurse in Charge and management.

Our Health Care Assistant works as a member of a team delivering care to the residents of our facility.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience working in a healthcare environment (with a good knowledge of HIQA standards) preferable
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to maintain a positive approach in a sometimes‑challenging environment
• Fluent level of English both written and oral

Job Details

• Job Type: Full Time
• Pay: €16.12 per hour or €32,691 minimum annual remuneration
• Hours: 39 hours per week
• Benefits: On‑site parking
• Schedule: 12‑hour shift, Day shift, Night shift, Weekend availability
• Experience: Healthcare: 1 year (preferred)
• Licence/Certification: Level 5 in healthcare support (preferred), Driving Licence (preferred), QQI Level 5 in Healthcare (preferred), QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (preferred)
