ORC is seeking a Health & Safety Officer for a growing construction and manufacturing operation in the South-East of Ireland. The role starts with construction-focused duties during a major site development phase and evolves into a long‑term operational QHSE position as the facility becomes fully operational.

The role requires experience in construction/manufacturing, a recognised OHS qualification, strong knowledge of Irish QHSE legislation, and experience with ISO management systems.

Health & Safety Officer – Construction & Manufacturing

Overview

We are hiring a Health & Safety Officer on behalf of a growing construction and manufacturing organisation in the South-East. This role will initially be construction-focused during a major site development phase and will transition into a long-term operational QHSE role once the facility becomes fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Phase

• Participate in site meetings, safety briefings, and EHS reviews
• Provide clear Health & Safety guidance to contractors and site personnel
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Ensure accurate incident reporting and follow-up actions
• Maintain all statutory and internal safety documentation
• Monitor site safety performance and report to senior management and QHSE leadership

Operational Phase

• Drive a proactive and positive Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality culture across the organisation
• Lead internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
• Manage risk assessments, site inspections, and corrective action plans
• Coordinate training needs, inductions, and contractor management processes
• Oversee machinery inspections, engineering checks, and safety systems
• Prepare Health & Safety reports for senior leadership
• Maintain and manage QHSE systems in line with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001)
• Deliver toolbox talks and company-wide safety awareness initiatives

Candidate Profile

• Experience within construction and/or manufacturing environments
• Recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
• Strong working knowledge of Irish QHSE legislation and industry standards
• Experience with ISO management systems and audit processes
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-engagement skills
• Ability to operate effectively at both site and senior management level
