Job summary

Foodhub in Dublin, Ireland, is hiring a Head of Engineering to lead day-to-day software delivery and build capable teams across Dublin and India. The role focuses on aligning the technology roadmap with business goals and owning a wider delivery remit.

You will drive architecture, code reviews, testing and observability while guiding teams to deliver reliable, secure products for hospitality customers, including EPOS and online ordering platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineers and delivering production products.
• Ability to review code, guide design and help teams solve problems.
• Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, REST APIs and modern automated testing.
• Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms and live systems.
• Evidence of cross-location collaboration and delivering under changing priorities.
• Hospitality technology knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day engineering delivery across product teams with clear priorities and release plans.
• Coach engineering managers and developers and support hiring across Dublin and India.
• Stay involved in architecture, code reviews and difficult technical problems across mobile apps, APIs and customer-facing products.
• Improve testing, deployment and observability to enable safe releases and rapid incident response.
• Strengthen platform reliability, performance and security while addressing technical debt.
• Partner with Product and Operations to understand customer needs and explain trade-offs early.
• Implement AI-assisted engineering and automation and assess quality, security and productivity before wider rollout.

About the role

We are looking for an engineering leader who can build capable teams and deliver dependable software at pace. You will turn the technology roadmap into clear priorities, stay involved in technical decisions and improve collaboration between Dublin and India. This role suits an engineering manager or technical lead with proven people leadership who is ready to own a wider delivery remit.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day engineering delivery across agreed product teams, with clear priorities, ownership and realistic release plans.
• Coach engineering managers and developers, support hiring and establish effective collaboration across Dublin and India.
• Stay involved in architecture, code reviews and difficult technical problems, particularly across mobile applications, APIs and customer-facing products.
• Improve testing, deployment and observability so teams release safely and respond effectively to incidents.
• Strengthen platform reliability, performance and security, addressing technical debt alongside product delivery.
• Partner with Product and Operations to understand customer needs and explain trade-offs, dependencies and delivery risks early.
• Implement practical AI-assisted engineering and automation, assessing quality, security and productivity before wider rollout.

What you will bring

• Experience leading software engineers and delivering production products.
• Previous CTO or VP experience is not required.
• A strong software engineering background, with the ability to review code, guide design and help teams solve problems.
• Practical experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, React Native, REST APIs and modern automated testing, or closely comparable mobile and web engineering experience.
• Experience with AWS or a comparable cloud platform, reliable delivery pipelines and operating live systems.
• Evidence of improving team performance, working across locations and making sound delivery decisions in a changing environment.
• Useful additional experience: Hospitality technology, e-commerce, ordering or payments experience; Node.js, GraphQL or native mobile development; distributed engineering teams; applied AI engineering.
