Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
nineDots.io in Dublin is seeking a Head of Engineering who remains hands-on and technical while shaping the foundation of the engineering team for a growing B2B SaaS platform.
You will own the engineering function, lead architecture reviews, and drive scalability, reliability, and AI-native initiatives in a cloud-native Go/TypeScript stack, with a flexible hybrid work setup.
Head of Engineering – Dublin (Potential Next CTO) - Must still be hands-on technical.
If you're a strong engineer who's moved into leadership but still wants to be properly technical, this could be a very good fit.
We're working with a growing B2B SaaS company in Dublin that's now building out its foundational engineering team.
They're looking for their first Head of Engineering to play a big part in shaping what that team looks like, how they build and the engineering culture from the ground up.
This is very much a player-coach role. You'll own the engineering function, but you'll also be expected to get into architecture discussions, review code, unblock engineers and be technically credible enough to challenge decisions when needed.
The platform operates at serious scale in a complex, real-time environment. There's plenty to get stuck into around distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, scalability and reliability.
The environment is modern and cloud-native, with Go and TypeScript featuring heavily. You don't need to come from the exact same stack though. Strong engineering fundamentals and experience building high-scale B2B SaaS platforms are much more important.
They're also pushing heavily towards AI-native engineering. They want someone who understands how tools like Claude Code can genuinely change the way engineering teams build software, rather than simply using AI as an autocomplete tool.
Strong fundamentals still matter though. You'll need to be comfortable coding without relying entirely on AI, and the interview process will include a hands-on coding round without AI assistance.
You'll have a big say in the engineers they hire, the standards they set and how the engineering function develops as the company grows.
Ideally you'll be around Dublin and happy with a hybrid setup, although there is flexibility for the right person.
If you're an Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, Staff/Principal Engineer or existing Head of Engineering who wants to build a team while staying close to the technical side, give me a shout.
