Job summary

Roughan O’Donovan (ROD) is seeking a motivated graduate electrical engineer for a permanent position within the expanding energy team in Dublin. The role offers exposure to live projects spanning substations, underground cables, and grid connections, with guidance from experienced engineers.

You will develop technical knowledge, design skills, and documentation, reporting to the energy group director. Training opportunities will be provided to support on-the-job learning.

Qualifications

• A degree in electrical engineering or related discipline (Level 8).
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and take guidance.
• Knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation and update of substation layouts, plans, sections and elevation drawings.
• Assist with underground cable route studies, including reviewing route options and constraints.
• Review maps, drawings and project information to identify utilities and potential cable routes.
• Assist with grid connection and electrical infrastructure assessments.
• Help prepare technical reports and route assessment documents.
