Job summary

Atlantic Projects Company (APC) is seeking an Engineering graduate to support the project engineering team in design, procurement, and site activities for power-generation and industrial EPC projects, based on site in Meath, Ireland.

You will gain hands-on experience across engineering design workflows, field investigations, CAD drafting, and vendor coordination, supported by mentors and Engineers Ireland alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Gain practical experience applying engineering principles in a professional environment.
  • Work under close supervision while developing independence as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.
  • Develop awareness of safety, environmental responsibilities, and ethical practice.
  • Communicate clearly with engineering and construction teams
  • Collecting and organising project data (drawings, reports, surveys, specifications).
  • Basic calculations and design tasks such as levels, volumes, quantities, and simple checks.
  • Preparing and updating drawings or mark-ups using CAD tools.
  • Reviewing vendor drawings, reports, and EOR design packages.
  • Supporting preparation of technical submittals and tender inputs.
  • Participating in field investigations, testing, or construction observations.
  • Raising and tracking basic technical queries (RFIs) under guidance.
  • Assist with the organisation of documents, registers, and project deliverables.
  • Support schedule tracking, progress reporting, and quantity take-offs.
  • Contribute to tender inputs (BOQs, estimates, layout support) under direction.
  • Coordinate small tasks with other team members and disciplines.
  • Receive daily guidance from assigned engineers and mentors.
  • Participate in technical reviews, team meetings, and site visits as appropriate.
  • Learn standard engineering procedures, codes, and design tools.
  • Gain awareness of professional responsibilities and progression toward Engineers Ireland graduate membership.
  • This supports the professional development and competence-building expected from an accredited Co-Op placement.
  • Visit or be based on project sites to observe construction and installation works, QA/QC procedures, and safety practices.
  • Assist site engineers with measurements, progress checks, or documentation.
  • Learn construction sequencing, temporary works concepts, and practical buildability considerations.
  • This enhances understanding of how design translates to construction, a key requirement of Engineers Ireland.
  • With supervision, the student may:
  • Support technical evaluations and documentation coordination.
  • Assist in tracking deliverables from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • This builds early experience in procurement, vendor management, and commercial awareness.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, inductions, and risk-awareness briefings.
  • Support quality documentation such as checks, redlines, and revisions.
  • Develop an understanding of safe design and construction practices.
  • Prepare clear notes, emails, sketches, and basic reports.
  • Participate in team meetings and share updates on assigned tasks.
  • Work effectively with multi-discipline engineering and construction teams.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and respect in all interactions.

Overview –

The Engineering graduate will support the project engineering team in the design, procurement, and site support activities associated with power-generation and industrial EPC projects.

This role provides structured exposure to engineering design workflows, construction activities, geotechnical interpretation, vendor engagement, and multi-disciplinary coordination within a professional engineering environment.

Responsibilities
General Characteristics:

Technical Responsibilities

Under supervision, you will assist with:

  • Collecting and organising project data (drawings, reports, surveys, specifications).
