Job summary

Deutsche Bahn AG in Ireland is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to lead commercial activities across project delivery and close-out, overseeing cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and change management. You will advise project teams and manage financial reporting while supporting procurement and contract administration.

The role involves assessing compensation events, negotiating with contractors, monitoring performance, and contributing to governance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in commercial management of major infrastructure, rail, transportation, utilities, or civil engineering projects.
• Experience managing project costs, forecasting, and change control processes.
• Ability to interpret and administer complex contractual arrangements.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.
• Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, ICE, or equivalent) and experienced in Irish infrastructure projects is advantageous, but not a must.
• Client-side commercial management / consultancy experience desirable.
• Relevant HSE training or site safety certifications are beneficial but can be obtained following discussion with the employer.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management activities across project delivery and close-out phases.
• Provide commercial advice to project and client teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage cost control, forecasting, budgeting, change management, and commercial reporting.
• Assess compensation events, variations, claims, and contractual entitlements.
• Support procurement and contract administration activities.
• Monitor project financial performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Lead commercial negotiations with contractors and suppliers where required.
• Contribute to project governance, reporting, and lessons learned activities.
• Support final account agreement and project close-out processes.
