Job summary

Arup in Ireland invites you to join our Ground Engineering team as a Work Placement geoenvironmental scientist/engineer in Cork or Dublin. You’ll work on geological, geoenvironmental, hydrogeological and geotechnical tasks across infrastructure, energy, water and development projects.

You will conduct desk studies, plan ground investigations, interpret geochemical data, contribute to EIARs, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or masters degree in Geoscience / Earth Science / Hydrogeology / Environmental Science / Engineering (which include geology)

Responsibilities

• Geological, geoenvironmental, hydrogeological and geotechnical desk studies, site assessments and development of conceptual site models.
• Planning and interpretation of ground investigations, including drilling, trial pitting, rock coring, geological logging, and soil and water sampling.
• Assessment and interpretation of geochemical data to determine impacts on land and water quality.
• Review options for the sustainable use of soils and stone during construction projects.
• Groundwater contaminant transport modelling to assess need for remediation or assessing potential impacts of re-use of materials.
• Preparation of technical reports, geoenvironmental assessments, and environmental documentation.
• Geoenvironmental input to Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), and regulatory submissions.
• Attending project meetings and communicating with colleagues, project partners, contractors, regulators and clients.
