Job summary

Focus Ireland in Dublin seeks a General Operative to provide and maintain a clean, safe environment for staff and tenants across services and onsite housing. You will prepare and clean houses for move-in in partnership with service support staff.

A flexible five-day rota covers morning and afternoon shifts. The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently or in a team, and prior cleaning experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Previous experience in a dedicated cleaning role.
  • Understanding of the client group supported by Focus Ireland.
  • Reasonable IT skills.
  • Desirable: Full driving licence.
  • Desirable: Manual handling certificate.
  • Desirable: Chemical handling certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Work in line with the aims of Focus Ireland.
  • Follow all Focus Ireland policies, incl. Health and Safety.
  • Maintain a flexible five-day rota incl. mornings and afternoons.
  • Complete monthly stock checks and maintain stock records.
  • Maintain cyclical cleaning records for NQSF programme.
  • Collaborate with facilities staff and contractors.
  • Attend supervision and training as agreed.
  • Clean offices, grounds and housing across sites.
  • Report hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Be flexible regarding work location and hours.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Comply with Working Alone and Confidentiality policies.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.

Job description

General Operative, Dublin
Location: Dublin
Contract: Part Time, 2 year Fixed Term

The purpose of this role is toprovide and maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for staff and tenants across the service, including communal areas, offices, and onsite housing. This includes preparing and cleaning houses for move-in in partnership with service support staff.

What you will do:
  • Work in line with the overall aims and objectives of Focus Ireland.

  • Follow all Focus Ireland policies and procedures, including the Health and Safety Policy.

  • Work to the daily routine set by line management or appointed systems, including a flexible five-day rota covering morning and afternoon shifts.

  • Complete monthly stock checks, maintain stock records, and request cleaning materials from the appointed person in a timely manner, in consultation with the line manager.

  • Maintain cyclical cleaning records and record information required for the NQSF cleaning programme.

  • Work collaboratively with other Focus Ireland facilities staff and cooperate with contractors as agreed with the line manager.

  • Attend regular supervision and training as agreed with the line manager.

  • Clean offices, grounds, and housing across various sites, and prepare houses as required.

  • Report any hazards or risks to senior staff immediately.

  • Report maintenance issues to the assigned staff member.

  • Work as part of a team and cooperate with colleagues.

  • Attend team, divisional, and organisational meetings as required.

  • Be flexible, within reason and with prior notice, regarding work location and hours.

  • Comply with Focus Ireland’s Working Alone and Confidentiality policies.

  • Undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities assigned by the manager.

What you will need:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, stay self-motivated, and contribute effectively as part of a team.

  • Previous experience in a dedicated cleaning role.

  • Understanding of the client group supported by Focus Ireland.

  • Reasonable IT skills.

  • Full driving license. (Desirable)

  • Manual handling certificate. (Desirable)

  • Chemical handling certificate. (Desirable)
