Job summary

O' CONNELL CARROLL LIMITED, based in Ireland, is recruiting General Operatives to run computer controlled Jacquard rapier looms at the Kilcar weaving plant. This is a skilled, hands-on role with a 39-hour week, shift work and a 1-year initial contract, six vacancies with staggered start dates.

You will operate, monitor, and set up looms, load materials, read patterns and ensure fabric quality. Teamwork with supervisors and maintenance is essential to meet daily targets while maintaining safety

Salary: €36,605 per year (€18.05 per hour including shift allowances, based on a 39 hour week)

Hours: 39 hours per week, full time, shift work

Contract: Initial 1 year contract

About the role

Cuan Tamhnaigh Teo is an international textile finisher based in Kilcar, Co. Donegal. We are looking for six General Operatives to run our computer controlled Jacquard rapier looms at our Weaving Factory. This is a skilled, hands on production role for someone who enjoys keeping complex machinery running smoothly and takes real pride in the quality of the fabric coming off the loom.

What you will do

• Operate and monitor computer controlled Jacquard looms throughout each production run
• Set up looms to the required fabric design, construction and production specifications
• Load and replace yarn, beams, bobbins and other weaving materials
• Read and follow Jacquard patterns, weave designs, production instructions and technical specifications
• Check fabric quality regularly and make sure it meets our standards
• Spot and correct faults such as broken yarns, missed picks, loose threads and pattern defects
• Make adjustments to loom settings, tension, speed and other operating parameters through the loom controls
• Stop the machine safely when faults occur and carry out minor adjustments or repairs where authorised
• Carry out routine machine checks and report mechanical or electrical problems to the maintenance team
• Keep accurate production, quality and downtime records
• Follow health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE, and keep your loom and work area clean and organised
• Work closely with supervisors, maintenance staff and quality controllers to meet daily output and quality targets while keeping waste to a minimum

What we are looking for

• Proven experience operating computer controlled Jacquard looms in a production environment
• Confidence reading Jacquard patterns and technical specifications
• Practical fault finding skills and a good eye for fabric quality
• Comfortable working shifts and to daily production targets
• Reliable, safety conscious and a good team player
